ISV Symmetrix Specialty
The ISV Symmetrix Specialty facilitates and accelerates efforts of key independent software vendors (ISVs) to develop products that integrate with Symmetrix technologies. Vendors become members of the ISV Symmetrix Specialty when they commit to integrate, test, and support their applications with Symmetrix technologies.

APIs
Partners can take advantage of a range of storage application programming interfaces (APIs).
EMC SMI-S Provider
EMC SMI-S Provider is EMC's implementation of the storage array profile functionality for EMC Symmetrix storage arrays, as defined by the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) SMI-S specification.
EMC VDS Provider
EMC VDS Provider carries out requests specified via the Microsoft VDS interface. VDS is a Microsoft-specified interface that permits application authors to do basic disk management operations such as creating and deleting disk space.
EMC VSS Provider
EMC VSS Provider provides interface and controls that permit Symmetrix to create copy images when requested to do so via the Microsoft VSS interface. The Microsoft VSS provider enables VSS Writer applications such as Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL Server to be quiesced on disk while the application continues to run, permitting the disk or array to split off a copy of that frozen image for backup purposes.
